Sadly, Cem was diagnosed with a slow-growing brain tumour that affected his vision

Please help kids like Cem get the specialised support they need to reach their full potential.

Sadly, Cem was diagnosed with a slow-growing brain tumour that affected his vision. A few weeks later, he lost his vision entirely. At the age of three, he was blind.

Cem underwent surgery and started chemotherapy, at the same time as having to adjust to living in a world he couldn’t see. Thanks to generous people like you, Vision Australia was there to support Cem at every stage.

Leo, a Vision Australia occupational therapist, helps children like Cem learn everyday essential skills, like using a knife and fork correctly and getting dressed. But it also goes further. At the same time, it also enables children to develop critical life skills like mobility, communication and problem-solving.

Leo has been working with Cem for the last 18 months. He says, "Cem’s a plucky little boy. He doesn’t give up."

And what could be more important that that? Building confidence and tenacity—even when presented with big challenges—is crucial for all children to lead a full life. And in turn, become a well-rounded, happy adult.

Without the support that services like occupation therapy provide, children like Cem may struggle to gain the skills they need to be their best, happiest self.

Please will you help?
